Honouring First Nations Communities

Our commitment to building with respect, collaboration, and cultural integrity

Our Purpose

At Mobile Health Clinics Australia, we are privileged to design and build medical vans that travel across some of the most remote and diverse lands in the country. We recognise that these lands have been cared for by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples for more than 60,000 years — and that our work takes place entirely on their Country.
While we do not deliver healthcare ourselves, our builds often support the extraordinary work of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations and local health services. We see our role as creating tools that help strengthen access to culturally safe, community-led healthcare.

Acknowledgement of Country

Mobile Health Clinics Australia respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands, skies, and waters on which we design, build, and deliver our mobile clinics. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We honour the enduring connection to Country, culture, and community - and recognise the wisdom and healing traditions that have guided wellbeing on these lands for millennia.

Working Alongside First Nations Organisations

We believe that meaningful work begins with respect, listening, and genuine partnership. Across Australia, our mobile medical vans are commissioned and operated by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations delivering vital health and community services. Our role is to stand beside them — providing the craftsmanship, reliability, and technical capability that help bring their vision to life.

Every community, every Country, and every service is unique. We approach each project as a new relationship built on trust and understanding — taking the time to learn who the van will serve, where it will travel, and what it represents, so that every design decision reflects those values.

Each build is more than a vehicle. It is a symbol of access, self-determination, and pride — shaped through collaboration with Aboriginal artists, leaders, and health teams. From the exterior artwork to the interior layout, every element is guided by cultural insight and community direction.

Our partnership doesn’t end at delivery. We remain committed to ongoing support, training, and adaptation — continuing to listen, learn, and build better, always guided by the communities we are privileged to work alongside.

Listening, Learning, and Respect

Our team continues to learn from the communities and organisations we work with. We understand that respect goes beyond words - it’s about how we listen, collaborate, and build. We recognise that each Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community is unique, and we commit to approaching every project with cultural sensitivity and humility.
We are also guided by the principle that cultural elements - including artwork, language, and story - belong solely to the communities and artists who create them. We ensure appropriate permissions, acknowledgement, and fair compensation for all cultural contributions.

Our Ongoing Commitment

  • To listen first and build only in partnership.
  • To ensure cultural representation is community-approved and properly credited.
  • To continue learning about cultural safety and best practice.
  • To celebrate the leadership and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations delivering frontline care across the nation.

An Invitation to Collaborate

If your Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander organisation is planning a mobile clinic or outreach vehicle, we would be honoured to work alongside you. Together, we can design a clinic that is functional, durable, and reflective of your community’s values and identity.
